Questions

The practical things people ask first

Starting therapy involves a lot of unglamorous logistics. Here are honest answers to the questions that come up most often — and anything not covered, just ask.

How long is a session, and how often would we meet?

+

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, at the same time each week. Consistency does a lot of the work in therapy. Some clients come twice weekly for a period; others move to fortnightly later on.

How many sessions will I need?

+

There is no fixed programme. Some people come for eight to twelve sessions with a specific focus; others stay for a year or more. We review together at regular intervals, and you are always free to stop.

What happens in the first session?

+

The first session is a longer, unhurried conversation. You tell me what brings you, I ask some questions, and we both get a sense of whether working together feels right. There is no obligation to continue.

Is everything confidential?

+

Yes. What you say stays in the room. The only exceptions are the standard legal and ethical ones — a serious risk to your safety or someone else's — and I would always try to discuss this with you first.

What are your fees?

+

Individual sessions are £80 for 50 minutes. Couples sessions are £100 for an hour or £120 for 90 minutes. Fees are confirmed before the first session. A limited number of reduced-fee slots are reserved at £45 per session for students and individuals receiving means-tested benefits in the UK, or people in France receiving chômage benefits, subject to proof and availability — please do ask.

Are you currently accepting new clients?

+

Yes — I am currently accepting new clients, in person across London and online. A short introductory call is the quickest way to find a time that works.

Do you work with insurers?

+

I am an insured provider with Vitality, so if you hold Vitality health cover your sessions may be covered in part or in full. Do check your policy, and I can provide whatever paperwork your insurer needs.

Are you verified by Psychology Today?

+

Yes. My profile is verified by Psychology Today, which means my qualifications, professional registration and indemnity insurance have been independently checked and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Do you offer online sessions?

+

Yes. Online sessions are available UK-wide and work well for people with unpredictable schedules or who travel frequently. Many clients mix in-person and online.

What is your cancellation policy?

+

Sessions cancelled with more than 48 hours' notice are not charged. Because your slot is held for you each week, later cancellations are charged in full.

Do you work with couples?

+

Yes — I offer couples sessions, either for 60 or 90 minutes. I also work with individuals on relationship difficulties. If we agree couples work is the right fit, we can arrange sessions accordingly.

What times are available for therapy sessions?

+

I offer daytime and evening sessions to accommodate different schedules, including appointments until 8 pm or 9 pm on some days because I know many people can only attend after work. These later slots are often the first to be taken, so it is worth getting in touch early. Sessions take place across several London locations — Chelsea, Clapham, King's Cross, London Bridge and Soho — as well as online, so we can find the setting that works best for you.

Do I need to prepare for sessions?

+

There is no specific preparation needed — just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore your thoughts and feelings.

How will I know if therapy is working?

+

Signs that therapy is effective include greater self-awareness and emotional resilience, improved relationships and coping strategies, and feeling more in control of your thoughts and emotions. Progress is rarely linear; we review how things are going together, and you can read more about my approach on the How I work page.
